This picture shows Christian and me at the 1st Intercontinental
Kite Challenge in 1997 in St. Francois on the Caribean Island of Guadeloupe. On the photo we are kiting on a steep coast in the
north-east of the island. We were filmed by a helicopter. The pictures of this great event
are also sold as a video you can get in most kiteshops or through announces in kite
magazines. They will also be broadcast on Eurosport around the end of July! All the pictures on this page were captured from a video camera. |
| The event itself was a great showdown of the Top 5 teams, pairs, individuals and quadfliers each from the continents Europe and America. In the future, this event will take place every year. We're looking forward to come there again and fight in a great competition against the most competitive pairs of the kite scene. | ![]() |

All competitors lived in a club that consisted of many 2-person appartements in small bungalows. The buffets for breakfast, lunch and dinner were in a kind of roofed terrace and the athmosphere was very familiar. There was also a swimmingpool where we could cool down after breakfast, before training, after training, before lunch, after lunch, before competitions, after competitions, before dinner, after dinner, before the evening party and - last but not least - after the evening parties. |
This year we managed to get the 2nd place behind KEOPS (F) and in front of DOS AVISPAS (USA). Precision was very interesting. Keops had the better compulsories, whereas we had the better precision routine. The difference of the precision score was only 0.2 pts (74.98 <> 74.78)! 3rd was Up2TheSky (Ger) with 68,98 pts, DOS AVISPAS came in 4th with 62 pts. In Ballet, KEOPS reached unbelievable 79.90, our score was 76.10 and DOS AVISPAS came with a great ballet and scored 77,14. Overall, they could overscore German's Up2TheSky and come into 3rd place.
